EXCEPTIONAL STUDENTS DESERVE EXCEPTIONAL THERAPISTS.... Our client is an outstanding School District located in Chestertown Maryland. This is a contract positions for the 2006/2007 School Year. Our opening is elementary school with PreK-6 to provide screening evaluation therapeutic and educationally relevant services to students that are speech and/or language impaired with varied diagnosis. This is a ten month position and duties may include but are not limited to the following: JOB TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Organizes and implements a speech and language screening process in a time-frame or sequence consistent with district directives. Assists in the identification of hearing disorders and makes recommendations for diagnostic evaluations. Diagnoses speech and language disorders and makes referrals for additional diagnostic testing when indicated and maintains relevant records. Develops a speech therapy schedule consistent with placement and frequency as indicated on the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student. Conducts therapy sessions in accordance with professional practices and techniques. Informs classroom teachers and other appropriate school personnel of progress of students receiving speech/language/hearing services and distributes progress reports to the parent every none (9) weeks.. Develops and maintains communication with other allied professionals. Continues professional growth through a review of the literature membership in professional organizations attendance at professional meetings and participation at in-service programs. Meets and consults with parents administrators and others to develop individual educational plans for students who are speech and/or language impaired. Ensures that documents required under Federal State and District guidelines are completed and maintained in students cumulative records. Conducts speech language and/or hearing screenings for students referred by teachers parents and Child Study Team or Student Support Team. Qualifications: Must hold a Masters Degree in either Speech Language Pathology or Communication Disorders; a current state license (or eligible) hold ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
