Position Title: Director of Surgical Services - WA #1396

Relocation: Yes
Location: Bremerton, WA

Bottom line, the qualified candidate must have:

1. BSN (BS in Nursing), master's degree is preferred.
2. Current Registered Nurse License, ACLS certified.
3. 5 + years recent and increasingly responsible experience in surgical services, including at least two years as a manager.
4. Clinical background experience in surgery or non-clinical leadership with strong experience in procedure or surgical areas.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Surgical Services has 24-hour responsibility for coordination of patient care, supervision of personnel, and administrative activities in the Department of Surgical Services. Responsible for education, safety, environment, Infection Control, materials
and equipment, assistance to surgeons and anesthesiologists, regulatory compliance, and QI. Actively promotes teamwork and collaboration between departments.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

BSN or a combination of education and directly related work experience. A master's degree is preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Current Registered Nurse
License in the State of Washington. ACLS certified.

CONTINUING EDUCATION & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory educational offerings per Hospital policy, license renewal per Washington State Board of Registered Nursing, ACLS certification.
Age Specific continuing competency requirements: Pediatric, Geriatric and
adult surgical patient care competency

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Five years recent and increasingly responsible
experience in surgical services, including at least two years as a manager.
Strong leadership in procedure or surgical service areas. Clinical
background experience in surgery or non-clinical leadership with strong
experience in procedure or surgical areas.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of a variety federal and state regulations, including CDC, FDA,
ADA, OSHA, WISHA, AATB, DOH, SMDA, Chemical Hazards regulations.
- Knowledge of business processes and practices
- Broad understanding of the hospital industry
- Knowledge of PACU/Surgery/Anesthesia procedures
- Knowledge of and ability to apply effective management and leadership techniques
- Demonstrated skills in collaboration, teamwork and problem-solving to achieve goals
- Demonstrated skills in verbal communication and listening
- Demonstrated skills in providing excellent service to customers
- Demonstrated skills in decision making, time management, and teaching
