Registered Nurse - Emergency Department #1370

Location: Dallas, TX Area

Bottom Line, the qualified candidate must have:

1. Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas
2. Associates Degree in Nursing or has BSN preferred or is willing to complete BSN
3. Work Nights in Emergency Department
4. 2+ Years recent RN experience in an Emergency Room or Acute Care hospital setting
5. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS Certs

Energetic, motivated, ready to jump right in, has a passion for the ED, but is not expecting a Trama Center environment. This is a freestanding, full service Emergency Department.

The Emergency Department RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

The tasks and responsibilities include:

- Assesses, plans and evaluates patient care needs.
- Prioritizes patient care based on acuity level and available resources.
- Carries out physician orders.
- Assists physician during examination, treatment and procedures.
- Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
- Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
- Instructs and educates patients and families.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
- Orients and mentors new staff members.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Other Requirements:

- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider.
- ACLS Certification or attainted within 6 months of hire.
- ENPC or PALS Certifications required within 6 months of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Staff RN's not hired in a graduate nurse or intern status, must have a minimum of two years recent nursing experience in area of practice in an acute care setting.
