Input prescriptions into the computer, process refills, receive and put away drug order, ten day return to stock of medications, receiving, process various insurances via computer and call for problems (i.e. dose changes and vacation overrides), contact physician offices about problem prescriptions, inventory, print end-of day reports, bin audits, cash handling, answer multiple phone lines, and direct patients to other items needed in store.

Review patients charts for cancer regimen, diagnosis, insurance, etc. to determine eligibility for treatment, communicate with medical and billing staff (i.e. doctors, nurses, physician assistants, financial counselors, pharmacists and pharmacy staff) of the facility and insurers, submit and review prior authorizations if necessary, notate findings in patient’s chart, CPT and ICD-9 coding.

Operate pyxis machine, prepare and fill orders that are faxed/sent from nurses of the facility through the pyxis, train nurses and pharmacy technician students on pharmacy procedures and protocols and admixing, return medications and refill stock of the pyxis, prepare chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy IV bags, prepare pre-medications, inventory, refill stock of supplies, place drug and supply order, and travel to satellite offices.
