Manage in-house operations of the Southern Pharmacy Section processing drug treatment prior authorization requests. Serve as point-of-contact for Medi-Cal beneficiaries and healthcare providers to explain Medi-Cal policies, resolve issues related to the process and outcome of drug treatment prior authorization requests and coordinate drug benefits for patients with Medicare Part D, Medi-Cal and other third party insurances.
Conduct staff training on administrative policies and guidelines in regards to the adjudication of drug treatment prior authorization requests. Collaborate with local pharmacist professional organization, California Employee Pharmacist Association (CEPA), to plan, review and organize monthly continuing education seminars for in-house professional staff. Oversee and provide prospective and retrospective drug utilization review through daily adjudication of drug treatment prior authorization request pursuant to Medi-Cal policies and regulations. Represent the California Department of Health Services (CDHS) in attending and preparing position statements for Fair Hearings court proceedings. Serve as Acting-Chief for the Southern Pharmacy Section on demand. Act as field-related subject matter expert in the development of guidelines and processes for the on line drug treatment prior authorization system. Participate in policy development and assessment at headquarter level. Travel and serve as representative for the Southern Pharmacy Section, Medi-Cal Operation Division, CDHS, at professional conferences and healthcare provider training seminars.

Provide clinical pharmaceutical services through drug order entry, patient drug therapy profile review, recommendation of alternative drug treatment regimens to treating physicians, calculation of pharmacokinetic dosing of aminoglycosides, vancomycin,TPN and preparation of sterile intravenous solutions. Supervise pharmacy technicians performing intravenous admixtures preparations and patient medication cassette fillings.

Deliver pharmaceutical services in both Inpatient and Outpatient settings. Perform basic and clinical duties via drug order entry, patient education, drug treatment counseling, drug therapy reviewing and monitoring, pharmacokinetic calculations and chemotherapy dosing. Prepare, as well as supervising pharmacy technicians to prepare, unit doses, intravenous admixtures, chemotherapy IV infusions and TPN solutions. Provide drug therapy consultation to in-house nursing staff and physicians upon requests.

Render pharmaceutical services in both mail order and retail settings.
Fill prescriptions and provide drug information as well as drug therapy counseling services to patients receiving drug regimens.

Acquired Doctorate degree of Pharmacy practice.

Completed undergraduate course requirements for Pre-Pharmacy program in two years.

High School Diploma.
