Graduate Research Assistant

Performed independent scientific research for the obtainment of doctoral degree. Conducted doctoral research identifying the independent effects of the environmental contaminant 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin on genes involved in learning behavior mechanisms. Pregnant rodents were gavaged (oral administration) with an environmental contaminant during gestation. Organs, including brain and liver, from the offspring were harvested. RNA and protein isolated from organs and used to perform RT-PCR and western blot analysis. Supervised research projects of rotating medical, graduate and undergraduate students. Facilitating the patient oriented problem-solving lab for medical and dental students. Performed research in team environment and collaborated with other local institutions. Presented research findings in Local and National Scientific Conferences.
